In collaboration with the British Embassy in Indonesia, FPCI held the Indonesia Universities Climate Conference (IUCC). It is the first event that connects delegations from universities around Indonesia to discuss the results of COP26 and the Glasgow Climate Pact, an agreement reached by countries to avoid a global temperature rise of more than 1.5°C and to minimize the impact of the climate crisis.
IUCC aims to mobilize the Indonesian academic community (including universities and research institutions) through discussion on the adaptation, mitigation, and financing solutions to tackle the climate crisis. It is hoped that this conference could be a momentum for Indonesia to show its participation in the front line of the fight against climate change.
Discussion results from each IUCC COP26 Working Group were presented and discussed with all delegations, which then combined into a policy paper with thorough observation and analysis from university delegations towards Indonesia’s commitment to COP26 and Glasgow Climate Pact. This policy paper will be handed to the Indonesian government as a recommendation to increase Indonesia’s climate commitment.
